CYCLE ROAD RACE.
NEXT' WEDNESDAY’S BIG EVENT. The Hawera Amateur Athletic" Club has received record entries for the cycle road race, which is to be held over a course of 17 miles on Wednesday next. It is expected that a large attendance of the public will witness the start and finish of the race, starting at the White R' ai 't Hotel and finishing at Arthur’s furnishing shop. The nominations include a number of competitors from Wanganui :and Palmerston. The secretary of the Wanganui Amateur Athletic Club has written congratulating the Hawera Club on putting on the best amateur cycle race in New Zealand. The officials chosen for the occasion are:—Judges: Open (adults), Messrs F. A Quin, A, Grant, M. R. Jones and G. H. Weir; boys under 1(5 years Messrs. H. McCabe, C. Dahl. Starter, Mr. L. T. Mar ter; asistant starters, Messrs. Strachan and R. Allen, H. McCabe and J. J. Goodwin. Timekeepers, Messrs. F. Foden and G. Ho stick. Protest committee, Messrs P. Quin, A. Grant and G. H. V r eir. Number steward, Mr. I{. Foy. Course stewards, Messrs. Fred. Lowe and A. Lane. Hoad steward, Mr. L. Hunt Secretary, Mr. G. H. Weir.
