BIOLOGICAL LABORATORY. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) .WELLINGTON, June 14. Replying to criticism on fhe biological laboratory, the Hon. W. Nosworthy states that he is hairing the matter gone into, but explains that the present building was acquired on the recommendation of the staff itself, and in America dwelling-houses are ‘ used for the purpose. The building is healthy and large enough, except in one or two departments, where the work has lately increased. It is close to Victoria College, and any laboratory must be in the city in order to be close to the senior departmental officers. The request for necessary appliances or equipment had been refused, and as to salaries they are £‘Blo more than four years 'ago, despite retrenchment. PUBLIC TRUST LOANS. . WELLINGTON, June 13. The Prime Minister (the Hon. W. F. Massey), as Minister in charge of the Public Trust Office, has been informed that during the past month the office has advanced by way of loan the sum of £352,310, distributed as follows: Private mortgages, £271,370; local body loans, £80,940.
