COMMERCIAL RELATIONS. #Y CABLE—PRESS A SSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT OTTAWA, June 12. Mr. H. J. Logan (Liberal) advocated in the House of Commons the cancellation of the present trade agreement with the West Indies, and favoured entering into a commercial union such as exists between the United States and its tropical possessons. He advocated trade agents in all the larger islands, and admission through. Canadian ports of all goods from the West Indies. The ships of the Government merchant marine should be reconditioned or others purchased suitable to handle the trade instead of subsidising other companies. Mr. Logan read a letter from a prominent citizen of Kingston, Jamaica, stating that if the United States did not secure political control of the islands, they would have them by commercial conquest through Canada’s neglected opportunity. It was stated that a full investigation of the subject would be made during the recess.
