DISTRICT SHIELD MATCHES.. The first games in the first round of the District Shield matches were played on Saturday afternoon between the Napier club and Hastings club on the Napier green, and betwren the Bluff Hill club and the Greenmeadows club on the latter's green. HASTINGS v NAPIER. The match between the Napier and Hastings clubs resulted in the three rinks of the Napier club defeating those of their opponents. Mrs Bishop gave afternoon tea. The following are the rinks and score?, Napier players being mentioned first : Rice, Laurie, Yates, H. Bull, 22; O'Reilly, Monteith, Roach, Haszard^ Holt. Thomson, Gilbert, J. P. Smith, 18 ; Gower,.W. Smith, Murley White 15. Bear, Williams, Wright«on, Rev. J. A. Asher, 16 ; Gillespie, Leonard,. Hall, Beatson. ISTotals: Napier 56, Hastnigs 45. BLU~F HILL v. GREENMEADOWS On the Greenmeadows green, the Bluff Hill club met Greenmeadows.. The green W3S very keen, and in the three links the contests resulted in close finishes The scores in the rinks were: Bluff Hill 19. lb, and 20; Greenmeadows lß,> 17 and 21. HASTINGS CLUB There was a goo J attendance at the local Bowling Club's &reen on Saturday-afternoon, when Mrs Pegler supplied uJternoon tea.
