It was published in London when the last mail left that "Johnny Summers would sail in the Royal mail steamer Otway on October 29 for Australia and a tour of India. In Australia Mr Hugh D. Mcintosh | hoped to match Johnny with Battj ling Nelson, and negotiations had made considerable progress to this end." Mr H. Wenand, the Australasian Amateur Bantam-weight Champion for 1939-10, returned to Wellington on Wednesday It is understood that Wenand and Stewart, the New Zealand Bantam Champion, will come together shortly. E. Stewart, of Timaru, who won the Bantam-weight Championship at the New Zealand Championship meeting iri Dunedin this season, has been matched by the Northern Boxing Association with O'Meara, the Auckland bantam champion, the fixture taking place early next month. Five days after his fight with Lang, Squires discovered that he had dislocated his right collarbone. In h's character's ic style Squires lemnrked, " Well, I suppose I was using one of those haymakers that I had found up on the farm, and missed landing." Had the sweep had something to resist its passage Bill believes he would have suffered no injury. Another match between Squires and Lang in December is probable. If the battle eventuates it will take place in Sydney. Bill Lang has received a cable message from Sam Fitzpatrick in San Francisco offering him £I2OO for a fight with Stanley Ketchel, win or lose, and £IOO expenses. Lang has accepted the offer, and will leave Melbourne in January. The fight takes place in April.
