Fruitgrowers' Conference.

PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, November 3. Further business was completed at the conference of New Zealand fruitgrowers to-day as follows: That the Government be requested to allow the importation of German owls as an antidote to the small birds nuisance. That a deputation wait on the shipping companies and suggest improved 'methods of handling fruit. That the Government be asked to provide sufficient ventilated cars for the proper carriage of fruit, and fhat fruit be given preference of despatch over non-perishable goods. That the registration of orchards from one tree upwards should be ompul-o-y-That all fruits should be sold under a registered brand, provided registration does not cost more than ss. That inspectors should have a definite and more limited area than at present, and that, for the better enforcement of the Act, members of fruitgrowers' associations should be asked to give inspectors either directly or through th-ir secretaries, every assistance in carrying out their workUNIFORMITY IN FRUIT CASES. Wellington, November 4. The uniformity of fruit cases was discussed at the Fruitgrowers' Conference to-day. It was finally decided that the standard case should be the " dump " case adopted by the Australian Governments. It was also resolved that no secondhand cases should be used for the sale o e fruit in a public market.
