Napier Dramatic Students.
"ONE SUMMER'S DAY."
The Napier Dramatic Students i ■ have had another very successful ! season in Hastings, they being received with packed houses both on Wednesday and Thursday nights. The piece is not so good as the previous ones, hut the acting was 1 really good and would be a credit to ! any professional combination. Mr. J. E. Macassey was very successful in a difficult- part " Major Dick Rudyard," and he accomplished his task with full honours. Mr. A. E. Renouf, as Theodore Bendyshe, hail as usual a lot to say, and his jocular remarks were heartily applauded. His impersonation was the " hit " of the evening. " The Urchin" was Avell filled by Mr A. A. Cornford, who took the piece well and caused much laughter. Mrs Edgar fulfilled her piece excellently and bore a beautiful stage appearance. Her acting does not at ,'U resemble that of an amateur. Misses Adelle King as Chiara (a gipsy), Mrs Lindo Levien as Irene, Messrs H. V. Hoadley as Phil Marsden, C. J. Smith as Robt. Hoddesden, A. E. Collins as Tom (his nephew), and Lindo Levien as Seth (a gipsy) : all played thenparts creditably, especially the first named, who was very successful as a gipsy. On the whole, the performance was excellently given, and the Students have left another favourable impression behind them in the hearts of drama lovers. The Frivolity Orchestra rendered a splendid musical programme under the leadership of Mr J. A. Stevens.
