Launching the Mapourika.

GREYMGUTII EXCITED

|Bv Tki,k.;kapii.J

Grevmouth, This day.

The Mapourika was launched this morning at 9.10. Everything passed off most successfully, the steamer gliding gracefully into the river and being subsequently towed to the wharf by the tug Westland. The breakwater was crowded with spectators, the number being about G.OOO. numbers having arrived from Reef ton, Hokitika, Kumara, and Brunrserton to witness the launching. As the vessel reached the water, the crowds along the breastwork of the wharf cheered gustily. Vessels in port were flying all their bunting, and the day was observed almost as a holiday. Mr Daniels is being heartily congratulated on all sides.
