In a case of some interest under the Factories Act tbe Chief Justice delivered judgement to-day. The firm of Kirkcaldie and Stains were prosecuted on a question regarding overtime. The S.M. held that the offence charged was the failure to pay not less than 6d per hour, and was not within the penal clauses of the Act. This decision was upheld by the Judge, who said the offence charged should have been employing at less than the imperative rate.
