A Maori Oats meeting is to be held at Matahiwi to-morrow. A number of Hastings residents intend being present.

HASTINGS TRAINING NOTES. [by J-'.TSN DJIN'j . A number of horses appeared on the track this morning. The first to move were St. Mark and Tirade, who galloped six furlongs on the course proper in style. Connop's Baccarat galloped six furlongs on the plough.

The Frenchman and Palaver ran a mile at top, the latter having all the best of it. She is looking real well and will take a lot of beating. Tire did four rounds at half-pace, going well. Daphne did three rounds at steady pace, finishing up the last quarter of a mile at top. Mr P. MeNamara's Matipo galloped sis furlongs at top, going well. Tally-ho did once round at half pace.

One of Mr P. Martin's youngsters and Seahorse (who arrived yesterday from Auckland) ran six furlongs on the plough at top, finishing together. Seahorse is looking really well. The Dude and Monsoon galloped once round, both being ridden out and The Dude having the best of the go. Scotia and Barbarossa galloped a mile and a half on the plough, Mr Martin's mare having all the best of it at the finish. Brennan Tas treated to one circuit slow and once round at a good working gallop. Mistra cantered twice steady on the course proper. Tigress did slow work. Te Hapuku and Ruby galloped a mile and a quarter, the first-named having all the best of it. Tataramoa galloped a mile and a quarter alone, finishing well within himself.

Lady Lome galloped once round. Te Ngaehe went a couple of rounds at a good working gallop. A number of others did slow work, and some Maori oat candidates broke records.

WANGANUI RACES. The W 7 anganui race meeting opens to-morrow. In spite of bad handicapping the different events promise to be well contested. The following should not be far out of the places : Flying Handicap: Famous 1, Bona Fide 2, Aquatic 3. First Hurdles : Pokomoko 1, Missfire 2, Splinter <5. Stewards' Stakes: Indian Shot 1, The Miller 2,-Tauhei 3.

Wanganui Cup: Wairongomai 1, Uhlan 2, Explosion 3. First Hack Hurdles : Whangaroa 1, Hauriri 2, Watershot 3. First Hack Flat: Taplow 1, Worry 2, Marvellous 3.

Wanganui Stakes; Hastings. WELLINGTON RACING CLUB. (Per P/v.vs Assnriatimi.) Wellington, Monday. At a meeting of the Wellington Racing Club stewards it was decided to pay the stakes of the Flying Handicap of the November meeting oyer to Brown, the owner of Osborne, in accordance with the decision of the judges appointed by the Racing Conference to consider the appeal. The secretary was deputed to represent the club at the opening of the new course of the Dunedin Jockey Club at Wringatui on 22nd March-
