In the Supreme Court to-day, the ease of C. H. Mills v. Alfrad Rogers and William Sinclair, in which £250 was claimed as damages for breach of agreement, and in which His Honor Mr Justice Denniston found in favor of the plaintiff, was heard. Mr Jellicoe for the defendant, will now move, pursuant to leave given at the trial, that judgment bo entered for the plaintiff on the findings. The case was one arising out of the libel actions in Blenheim recently, and in which the defendants were acting for Mr Mills. Judgment was reserved.
Auckland, Monday, At the Supreme Court criminal sessions Mr Justice Conolly expressed regret at the large number of charges. Three were offences against females, which were becoming alarmingly frequent.
Patrick Dowling, for attempted suicide, was ordered in his own recognisances, £25, to come up foe sentence when called upon. Patrick Loughman, found in possession of house-breaking implements, was sentenced to three years ; John M'Donald, for breaking and entering at'Te Puua, Tauranga, to 18 months; John Connell, for forgery, pleaded guilty, and was remanded for the report of the probation oflicer ; G. F. Porter, for falso pretences, to three years. This day. In the Supreme Court no less than twenty prisoners pleaded guilty. Frederick Challis, charged with impropriety towards a girl under sixteen years, was discharged, because in the meantime he had married the girl. Several liaweno residents were charged with selling guns to Natives. Albert Haines was sentenced to six months* bard labor, and Black and Edwards were ordered to pay costs. Several other cases were dismissed. Dunejmn, This Day. In the case of Robert Carlyle, charged at the criminal sittings with house-breaking, and remanded yesterday for medical examination, Dr Burns testified that the man was perfectly sans. He was sentenced to four years.
