Fire at Kawakawa.

A fire at Kawakawa destroyed Brewer's Star Hotel, also the premises of Higginson, Fleet's store and bakery, McCreedy's fruit shop, Blomfield's solicitor's office, and Steward's store. The principal insurances on the Star Hotel building were in the Standard (partly reinsured), £1000; contents, £650 in the Norwich Union ; piano aad paintings, £IOO in the Alliance. Stewart's store, £3OO in the Standard ; Blomfield's ofiice, £BOO in the South British ; Fleet's buildiDg, £1350 in the Commercial Union.
