TheChristchurch Cycling Club's meeting at Lancaster Park was attended by 3000 people. The racing was magnificent. The results of the principal events were:
Half Mile Handicap: G. Sutherland, 35vds, 1; Lvons. 25yds, *2; Preece, 55yds, 3. 'Time, limn 3 2-stli sec. There were 56 starters in this event. _ New Zealand "Wheel Race, 50 soys, - mile : G. Sutherland, 130 yds, 1 : -T- E. Blade. 100 yds, 2; T. Thomson, 110 yds, 3; J. Stanton, 190 yds. 4. Time, 4min 35 2-sth sec. There were were 41 starters. Sutherland, who is almost a new rider from West port, but rode splendidly throughout the dav, came away in the last lap and won by a dozen yards. This race was won last year from scratch in -knio 52sec. Provincial Championship of Canterbury. 5 miles: A. K. Barker 1. T. Clarkson 2, R. Hendry 3. Twelve started, 12min The Multicycle Race was won by Barker and T. Clarkson from scratch. Mile Handicap: E. J. Ritchie, 75yds. 1: H. Lyon, 60yds, 2: J. Win gate, 65yds, 3. The were 36 starters. Time, 2min 18 3-sth sec. J. Woodroffe, the representative of the Royal EntieldCycle Company, has decided that the 75 guinea challenge cup sent out by the company for competition in New Zealand, shall"be competed for at the League of Wheelmen's champion meeting at Dunedin in March nest.
