Maraekakaho.
[From oue own C'orbespondent.] Experts who have seen the improved swamp grubber, turned out by Messrs Jones and Sons of Hastings, at work here, state that it is the best of its kind in use anywhere. Messrs Arch. M'Lean and M'Pbee are responsible for thinking out tbe improvements which Mr Jones put into effect. A good deal of enthusiasm is being displayed in cricket this season. A club, with a strong membership, has been formed and a match is arranged with the Olrig Club to come off shortly, after which our boys intend issuing a challenge to the Hastings Tradesmen's Club.
A gloom was cast over the place when intelligence arrived of the death of Master Arthur Maddison, and many and sincere were the expressions of sympathy for Mr W. C. Maddison and his family, who are greatly respected throughout the province. A choir concert, promoted by Mr and MrsLockie, comes off in the Schoolroom to-morrow night. The reunion promises to be most enjoyable. Shearing on Harding's station, Keren;, concluded to-day.
