DEEDS OF HEROISM. Per Press Association. — Copyriyht.) London, Dec. 1. Many incidents of heroism in connection with rescue work occurred during the recent gait. Five artillerymen put off iu a small boat and attempted to assist some distressed comrades off Shoeburyness, but were themselves swept seaward and subsequently rescued by a passing steamer. At Margate the damage is estimated at £50,000. Large tracts of country were flooded inland.
