Sergeant Villiers, who was some time ago stabbed whilst in the execution of his duty at Wanganui and was an inmate of the Wellington Hospital for some time in consequence of the injuries he received, has retired from the police force and has been awarded a year's salary. The s,s. Beautiful Star while 011 her way from the East Coast to Wellington at 1.30 a.m. on Friday touched on the tongue of land stretching out to sea at Uruti, three miles south of Mataikuna.
