Dutch official records discovered in the vaults of the Law Courts at Georgetown, capital of British Guiana, prove that the Dutch have occupied the districts between the Upper Guiuna and Moruka rivers, British Guiana, since the the middle of the seventeenth century. Heavy repeat orders from Melbourne to cover losses of goods by the recent fire are stimulating the industries damaged by the Hamswell-street fire. Sir Phillip Woodhouse Currie, British Ambassador at Constantinople, will retire in May next. After the disgraceful scene in the Reichsrath the majority of the members without debate adopted a rule empowering the exclusion of disorderly Deputies. This incensed the members of the Opposition, who drove President Kathrein out of the Chambei and shook their fists in the face of Count Badeni, the Premier. Eventually the sitting was suspended. Pketoria, Nov. 26. President Kruger in the course of an electioneering speech justified the employment of spies abroad at Capetown, Rhodesia, and Delagoa Bay. He admitted having once attempted to annex Rhodesia, but the English were too sharp for him.
