THREATENED BOMBARDMENT
A PREEMPTORY NOTE TO THE PORTE.

Vienna, Nov. 16. Austria threatens to bombard Mersina to-morrow. In a note to the Porte she insists the dispute is over the AustrianOriental Railway, in connection with which the present difficulty primarily arose shall be settled, and will not consent to the Ottoman Bank making an advance on the railway account until her demands with reference to the dismissal of the officials is satisfied.
