Wellington, This day. At the annual meeting of the Shipowners' Association George Wilson, of Wellington, was elected president. The report stated there were 188 members and that the finances were flourishing. Notice was given for the appointment of a paid treasurer and bookkeeper in view of the increase of office work. £2G 5s was granted to defray the legal expenses of Captain Furneaux, of the tug Mana, in connection with the wreck of the Yolande at Westport. A confirmee of delegates from the various hospitals and Charitable Aid Boards of the colony was opened this afternoon to discuss matters affecting the question of charitable aid in all its phases. Twenty were present and others are expected. Mr J. J. Devine. Chairman of toe Wellington District Board, was elected President. In tne course of his inaugural speech he said a change was desirable in the mode of administration of charitable aid in the colony and one suggestion was that the cost of charitable said ahould be paid out of the Consolidated Fund. Cambridge, This day. At a public meeting last night to consider the question of running creameries on Sundays Arch-Deacon Willis was the convener and the Mayor was in the chair. The opinion of the meeting was emphatically on the side of the sacred observance. The resolution was unanimous.
