Accidents and Fatalities.

The police have received word that a man named Thos. Armstrong committed suicide at Tiraumea on Saturday, Auckland, Oct. 9. At Victoria Valley, Mongouui, two boys aged 5 and 3J years, sons of Mr Noah Buckingham, went into the bush to chop trees. The eldest lad was found with a tree on top of him and died in 20 minutes. A constable proceeded to Wangarei this morning to inquire into a drowning accident that occurred there last Tuesday, by which some natives lost their lives. They went out fishing in a small boat; some hours after the paddles and rudder were picked up on the beach. Some of the bodies have been recovered. Reeftox, Oct. 9. A terrible accident occurred yesterday at Lyell. Two miners were warming dynamite at a forge, when it exploded, one man's eyes being injured and the right hand blown off the other. Both were conveyed to the Reefton hospital. Joseph Pelham, a well known footballer, of Rotoraa, had his right leg badly scalded on Tuesday night last in the native village at Ohinemutu through stepping off the track and accidentally breaking through the treacherous crust into a spring of boiling water. He was carried home, but is now recovering.
