The steamer Warrimoo brings news that the steamer Taviuni ran into a gale of cyclone force after leaving Sydney on her island tour. The second officer, Rowe, a native of Sydney, was washed overboard and drowned while assisting to secure the starboard ash shoot. In rounding the vessel to after the accident the a heavy sea struck her, smashing several of the boats.
