The Hatuma Estate.
AN OBJECTION TO ITS ACQUISITION. (By Telegraph.) (Per Press Association.) Wellington, This day. The first stage in the litigation ovec the Hatuma estate will come on at the Supreme Court on Friday. The Minister of Lands has taken steps for the compulsory acquisition of the land in question—s7,ooo acres, situated in Hawke's Bay—but Mr T. Purvis Russell, who owns part in feo simple and has a life interest in the other 5000 acres, claims that the preliminary steps contemplated by the Act have not been taken, and seeks an injunction to restrain the Minister from proceeding with the purchase.
