Messrs Reid and Kingston arrived by the Miowera in excellent health. The Government steamer Thetis, with members of the Ministry and Parliament and leading citizens, met the Miowera at the Heads and enthusiastically welcomed the Premiers. Congratulatory speeches were made. There was a large crowd on the wharf and much cheering. A public reception will be held to-morrow. Melboukxk, August 31. Mr Seddon and party arrived overland from Adelaide. On the arrival of the Oroya at Adelaide they were cordially met and welcomed by the acting - Premier, several members of Parliament, and many influential citizens. At Bailarat this morning they were met by the Mayor and Aldermen, and representatives of the Miners' Association. The Mayor welcomed them on behalf of the citizens. At Melbourne they were welcomed by the Minister for Public Works, the Commissioner of Railways, and other public men, besides a large number of New Zealanders. In the afternoon Sir George Turner entertained the party at- luncheon. Subsequently Mr Seddon, as the representative of New Zealand, attended the intercolonial conference of Ministers of Agriculture to discuss fruit-growing, packing, exporting, and freight. In the absence of the New South Wales representative the meeting adjourned after a short sitting, but meets again at Sydney on Saturday.
