(Per Preas Assoeiati'ii). —< '< jn/riyltt.) London, August 30. The steamer Pakeha is towing the Rangatira, which recently put into Teneriffe with a broken shaft, to London. August 31. The Standard says that Lord Salisbury's proposals that three Powers jointly guarantee the Greek indemnity loan, will not be accepted, as Russia is reluctant and Germany jealous. Berlin, August 31. The Ivolinische Zeitung newspaper states that the Greek tobacco and stamp revenues which it is proposed to assign for repayment of the indemnity loan are already mortgaged. Athens, August 30. The Cretan Assembly has deposed its President, who was virtually a Greek nominee. August 31. The Greek Chamber of Deputies has unanimously adopted a vote of confidence in the Ralli Government. M. Delyannis declared that he would support the Government in critical circumstances. Ottawa, August 30. In the House of Commons Sir Wilfred Laurier, referring to Great Britain's denunciation of the German and Belgian commercial treaties, said whatever England lost, so far as material interests were concerned, by such a coursf? of action, she would reap ten thousand-fold in the affections of the Canadians. New York, August 31. Manufacturers of explosives in the United States have agreed not to export explosives or war material to South Africa. The filibustering expedition which left America is stated to be the largest and best equipped expedition yet sent. Sydney, This day. A telegram from London announces that Mr F. H. Dangar has been invited to assume the Agent-Generalship of New South Wales until the arrival of Sir Joseph Abbott. Both Mr Reid and Mr Abbott deny the slightest ground for such a statement.
