THE ENGINEERS' STRIKE.
AN ENTHUSIASTIC GATHERING IN HYDE PARK. THE EIGHT HOURS' MOVEMENT EXTENDING. (Pt-r Press Association. —Copyright.) Loxdok, August 30. A gathering of 16,000 members of the Amalgamated Engineers' Association and allied trades in Hyde Park adopted resolutions heartily concurring in favor of an eight hours day, and expressing strong sympathy with the provincial workers. On Saturday £30,000 was distributed in the shape of strike pay amongst 45,000 hands who have struck or have been locked out. liV connection with the trouble in if engineering trade, a ballot taken amongst the members of the British Boilermakers' and Iron and Steel Shipbuilders' Union resulted in a large majority in favor of the eight hours" movemen fc.
