GALLANT CHARGE OF THE DERVISHES. HALF THEIR NUMBER LEFT DEAD. ( Per Press As*>«iation. — < ) Cairo, August 12. f Abu Hamed was garrisoned by 1000 Dervishes. Twenty-one of the Egyptian force were killed and (51 wounded during the attack. Tin- Dervish cavalry made repeated charges right up to the bayonet point, half of them being killed. Only 200 of the garrison escaped, and their commander was captured. The Khalifa is reinforcing the followers of Mem eh. The gunboats are now passing the fourth cataract of the Nile.
