The Arrival of the Governor.

A GREAT RECEPTION. [By Telegraph.] (Per Press Association.) Wellington, This day. The Tutanekai arrived just before midnight and anchored inside the heads. Five hours were spent fishing at Jackson's head yesterday. The Acting - Premier and other officials went down at 10 a.m. to give his Excellency a preliminary welcome. The town is being dressed with bunting and the weather is calm and fine, but slightly uncertain. If it holds good the reception will be very effective. The Government edifices and a few others will be illuminated in the evening. 1 p.m. Light showers are falling but notwithstanding this seven or eight steamers, mostly crowded, have gone out to escort the Governor to the wharf. The sun is shining at intervals but where the Tutanekai is lying it was raining heavily most of the day. 3.30 p.m. At 1.30 several steamers proceeded to the Heads to .meet the Tutanekai, and cheers were given for Lord Ranfurley and party. Then the profession formed up the harbor, the convoy consisting of the Manaroa, Te Anau, Wamui, Taupo, Richmond, and several small vessels, all densely packed. Great enthusiasm was displayed. The Governor and party landed at 8.15 and received the heartiest welcome. The wharves were densely crowded for the official reception. The procession is now taking place. The Governor will be sworn in about 4.30.
