GENERAL ITEMS. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, This day. For a considerable time past the conduct of the Home for the Aged Needy has occupied the attention of the trustees, and at the meetings of the latter a good deal of personal feeling has been introduced. This has led to the Rev. Van Stavern moving that the trustees as a body should resign, but this was rejected, and a suggestion that two ladies be appointed visitors to the Home was adopted. The ladies are to visit the Home at any time and report to the trustees. Lionel L. Harris, a well-known and highly respected citizen, died early this morning from an affection of the heart, aged 51. Deceased for years was a City Councillor and held the position of chairman of the Hospital trustees and the New Zealand Times Company, besides being connected with several other local bodies. Detective Cox, who has been investigating the sudden disappearance of Satherly, horsetrainer, in Blenheim, expresses the belief that the man was not drowned as at first supposed, and states that a friend of the missing man saw him the day after he was reported to have disappeared. The suspicion of foul play is not entertained by the police. Napier, This day. Nelson Bros, received the following wire from London to-day : No improvement in the frozen meat market; prices are unchanged. Reefton, This day. John Gilmer, farmer at W 7 aitahu, was killed by the capsize of a dray, winch struck a log.
