MR WARDS GETS A HUGE MAJORITY. (By Telegraph.) (Per Press Association.) Invercargill, This day. Great interest was evinced in the Awarua election and the results were received with cheers by the supporters of the Government in town. With two returns to come —Stewart and Ruapoka Islands —the totals are : J. G.'Word ... ... 1968 Cuthbert Cowan ... 002 The numbers at the general election were :—W'ard 1836, Cowan 1051. The returns to come will increase Mr Ward's majority by about one hundred. When the results were announced Mr Ward addressed a large audience at Winton amidst great enthusiasm. Later.
