A FURTHER ENGAGEMENT WITH CHITRALESE. THE ENEMY LOSE 100 MEN. NIGHT ATTACKS ON THE BRITISH CAMP. [Per Pi ess Assoeicition. Copyriyht.) Calcutta. July 29. Further severe fighting has occurred at Malakand. The British forces lost 13 killed and 43 wounded, while the Chitralese had 100 killed. The garrison is now short of provisions. July 30. Nightly attacks are being made on the British forces at Malakand, and during the day parties of natives on the hills harass the garrison. They have succeeded in burning the British tents at Malakand, and the camp there has been abandoned. Lord Elgin, Viceroy of India, is using his power to arrest and deport disloyal persons without trial. This action is causing a great sensation throughout the country. Bail has b< on refused to Bal Gangadnar Tllak. A Poona editor named Ivelkan has been arrested and sent to Bombay.
