The auriferous deposits are said to be enormous, but the district is described as the most desolate mining camp in the world. Ottawa, -July 28. The miners who have returned from the scene of the rich gold discoveries in British Columbia state that the gold belt extends 300 miles along the river Yukon and its tributaries. The country is fairly reeking with gold. A remarkable rush is taking place to Klondike from Colorado, California, and Montana. Experienced men urge that mining operations be delayed until the spring.
