The Reefton Miners' Dispute.
(Per Pre*x A-%wri>:ttio>i).' Reeftox, -July 20. The Conciliation Board, after three days' sitting, made the following recoommendaiions in the dispute between the Miners' Union and the ditlerent companies : —Bosses' wages to be as at present, lis 8d per day, but would suggest that they should not be members of the I nion: timber men as at present, lis 8d ; miners' wages, 9s 6d; truckers, 8s; feeders as present, 8s; proposed shortening of the hours of the shift for men working in bad air, struck out pick and shovel labor, 8s 6d ; bushmen, 9s 5d ; men in charge of shift at bottom, 10s; blanket washers, 8s ; men working rack-drill, 10s ; engine-drivers and wheelmen, stationary, £B, with winder's certificate, £3 10s ; blacksmiths, lis 8d to 18s 4d ; brace and chamber-men, per day. 9s; Saturday afternoon shift to leave the mine at 11 p.m., the Sunday night shift to stop on at 1 a.m. ; re lifting men where the mine exceeds 250 ft in depth was struck out; when tenders are called for contracts, written specifications to be provided to work by ; the Board to recommend the Government as to the advisability of appointing inspectors for goldmines only; the Easter holidays are done away with, Christmas to commence 011 Christmau Eve and end on New Year's Day (both days inclusive), and Queen's Birthday was made a holiday ; r<- giving a week's notice, struck out ; that necessary work only be performed on Sunday," and the extra pay in this clause was struck out ; residents of the district if competent, to have the preference of employment. The award in McKay's case is Pick and shovel men, 7s 6d ; bnshmen's wages, 7s; blacksmiths, lis 2d and 18s Id per «%•
