♦ A SETTLEMENT OF THE BUILDING DISPUTE. (By Telegraph.) (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, This day. At the Arbitration Court to-day the recommendations of the Conciliation Board in matters connected with the building trade dispute were accepted except clause I, which was eventually agreed upon in the following form : That the minimum wage for a tradesman competent for the work in which he is employed be 10s per day ; men who are considered to be unable to earn the minimum wage shall be paid a lesser sum (if any) as the committee of employers and workmen (which this Board suggests should be set up for the purpose of settling minor disputes) shall agree upon, or if the committee cannot agree as shall be fixed by the chairman of the Board. The conciliation award comes into operation to-day for two years.
