The Valetta, which arrived from London, reports that while passing Arabia Sea she fell in with the steamer, Sultan of Bombay, in distress. She had been struck by a heavy sea, which smashed the main hatch and filled the hold and engine room. The Yaletta's boats with great difficulty rescued a hundred and eleven people. Three boats lowered from the Sultan reached the Valetta, while two were smashed by the sea. Ten persons were drowned. The rescued had been without food for two days. They were landed at Colombo.
