About 15 prisoners are to be released in recognition of the Queen's record reign, but the names are not divulged by the Minister of .Justice, who holds the opinion that it is not fair to those released to have their names heralded throughout the colony,
Pcnedix, June 21. It is stated authoritively that free pardons'in connection with the Jubilee have been extended to Aunie Byrne, undergoing a sentence for infanticide
at Invercargill ; Louis Chemis, convicted of the Kaiwarawara murder; and a Maori named Rolland, who has served upwards of 13 years for killing his mate in a moment of temper, and whose conduct has been exeqiplayy while in gaol. Sit) short sentenced
prisoners in various parts of the colony have been also liberated. The Star further says that the case of the woman Flannigan, convicted at Christi church some years ago for killin« he?: owp child, was r.evie\yed by the Executive, but the antecedents were sirch that the clejnencv of the Crown could pot be extended Is her case.
