Fires in Wellington.

Wellington, This Day. A fire occ-urred yesterday at the Union Company's stores, Taranakist.reet. The damage was at first thought to be trifling, but it is now believed to amount to some £2OO. From the fact that a 'oose kept ou the premises was cut is some ground of suspicion that fß"SVouthreak was not accidental. It was insured for £I7OO in all.

A six-roomed dwelling house in the Lower Hu;t belonging to G. Peter and occupied by Captain Home was burned down. It was insured in the Phoenix for £2OO.
