The Arbitration Board, consisting of Judge Williams and Messrs Ihompson and Slater, assessors, is now sitting to hear* a dispute between the shipping firms and the Seamen s Union- The employers adopted the award'of the Conciliation Board except aj,-to' the right of Union representatives to go on board ships during the seamen's oft' time, and giving preference to the employment of L nion men. They now Mi-k to refer these to the Arbitration Board. At the cutset a difficulty occurred, as the Union claim the right to re-open the whole u-vaqj, which is now being argued.
