A meeting of the Executive of the Wellington subscribers to the Hawke's Ba,y Relief Fund was held on Tuesday, Mr T. J. W. Gale presiding. The Town Clerk reported that £IO9B Bs 3d had already been collected, and a number of lists containing substantial sums had yet to come in. A discussion arose as to the disposal of the funds. It was decided to communicate with the executive in Napier, and ask them if they wished the money forwarded, or if they preferred the Wellington Committee to spend it for them in the purchase of goods, and, if so, what kind of goods they would like, and what quantity. A suggestion was made that a representative of the Wellington Executive Committee should visit Hawke's Bay to make enquiries as to the best methods of distributing the Wellington fund, but finally the idea was abandoned, as it was thought that such a step would give offence to the Napier executive. .It was decided to hold a meeting on that day week, and to finally close the lists on that date.
