Devileres, member of the Colonial I&rty representing Cochinchina, stated that British manoeuvring had caused the recent wars in Siam and Madagascar. He stated he held official proof that Englishmen had incited the assassination of Frenchmen. These statements created a sensation. M. Hanotaux announced that France would not permit Britan to interfere in Madagascar.
