A SUSPICIOUS FIRE.

There is now, says the Rangitikei Advocate, very strong evidence that the fire which caused the destruction of Mr Pyhus's store at Rata was the work of an incendiary, as on Sunday over 40 pairs of boots and shoes were found stowed away under the railway station. They were easily identified as part of Mr Pybus's stock. It is supposed that whoever broke into the shop after securing what they wanted set fire to the premises in order to destroy all traces of their work. Mr Pybus was insured in the Manchester office for £750, and the value of the stock was £I2OO. Most of the books and papers were destroyed, which will bring the loss, over and above the insurance, to more than £7OO.
