[By Gifsy Gkaxd.] Defiant again defeated liis opponents in the two-year-old race at Wangauui yesterday. The costly St Conon was unplaced, and Newhaven's half-brother. Ocean, was last. The consistent Turiri gelding Tho Miser annexed the Autumn Handicap, King's I'xuvuinn and Target tilled the places. Vedette defeated nine others in th > Hack Race, and Ascot Vale won the 1-are we 1. Target has now ran into third place for the fourth time. It is up to him to win a race before long. ]>y a resolution passed last night at the H.15.J.C. meeting the trainer of any horse who does not send his horse to the post within five minutes after the ringing of the starting bell will be fined X''2. Conscript won the lJoshill Steeplechase in X.S.W. last Saturday. Ulysses also started but came down at one of the jumps. A three-year-old gelding by Iliko from Countess has been added to string; he is in the rough at present, but will developc into a useful sort. 11. Lunn, the Ricearton trainer, has purchased the unlucky Skirmisher. Senior Wrangler (Medallion —Flattery) has again changed hands at X'.'iti. Marino and Arquebus arc to remain in New Zealand. Mr G. G. Stead will not be present to see Multiform run in the Stakes, as he leaves for England next week. K. Mason will arrive in Hastings with Multiform early next week. Erl King (107) and Emmalea ill*2) were the Australian horses engaged in the Saiulown Grand Hurdle Race run on Feb. i;i. Mannlichcr is going on well in his work at Riecarton. I'icleher has sold Yoltigeur to Tiller who takes him to Greymouth. Kent has been added to the list. Boreas was shipped to Australia yesterday. Gipsy Grand goes to the stud, and will stand at Eldershe. Lord Ivosslyn burst a hoof while riming the I'orbury Handicap.
