The Wellington Suburbs Seat.

MR HISLOr RECEIVES A WARM RECEPTION. [Bv Tklegkai j u] (Per I'irxs Asxnriuthm.) Wki.i.im.ton, March 1. At Pet-one this evening Mr T. W. Ilislop attempted to address a public meeting to explain the attitude adopted by him in connection with the Mulvauey letter which played so important a part- in the recent Suburbs election petition. The meeting from the beginning was hostile, the audience indulging in cat calls and singing, the voice of the speaker being inaudible. Mr R. C. Bruce also attempted to address the meeting, and met with but little better success, the gathering eventually breaking up in disorder. No indication has been made as to the Opposition candidate likely to contest the seat.
