Election Petition Cases.
COSTS ON THE HIGHEST SCALE AGAINST MR ATKINSON. [By Telegraph.] (Per Press Association.) Wellington, This day. In the Petition Court, the Chief Justice said he could see no reason why they should depart from the usual rule that the respondent should have • costs. Petitioner had not proved anything in the conduct of Mr Fisher or his agents which would justify tho Court in penalising him. The petition was dismissed with costs on the highest scale. Six extra days were certified to at fifteen guineas each and extra counsel. In the Wairarapa Petition tho Court following the English practice ruled that there was 110 petition before it. and no costs were allowed.
