MATTERS QUIETING. (Per I')'*s Assiifiatii'ii. —Coj>yri;fht.) Constantinople, Feb. 8. Five thousand inhabitants fled from Crete, and 2000 are oil board the British warships. Feb. 9. Matters in Canea are quieter, except Halepa. The attacks made by the Christians upon the Mohammedans have been repulsed. Athens, Feb. 9. The Cretans at Halepa have proclaimed a union with Greece. The Moslems at Ileraklion recaptured 15,000 riHes and the arsenal. There is great popular excitement at Athens. Seven British warships arc patrolling- the coast of Crete.
