In the House of Commons the Right Hon. Joseph Chamberlain, in replying to Mr Tlogan, said that if Central Queensland had no prospects of early relief l>y the federation of the colonies it was due to the voluntary action of Queensland in standing out of the forthcoming Convention. The Queen, although having had power to create the Colony while it formed part of New South Wales territory, was without power to subdivide Queensland.
