Disastrous Fire in Pahiatua.

FIVE BUILDINGS DESTROYED.

Pahiatua, This day. A. disastrous fire occurred at 1.80 this morning. It broke out in Knight's butcher's shop, which was destroyed ; also Quirk's tobacconists, Brenton's grocery, Parks' boot shop, andGelderd's fruit shop. The fire was stopped after considerable damage to the N.Z. CWthing Factory. The whole block belonged to Miss M. Williams, daughter of T. C. Williams, and was insured in the London, Liverpool and Globe for £9OO. Other insurances : Gelderd's stock and furniture, £250 in South British aud £250 in London, Liverpool and Globe; Brenton's stock, £250 ; Parkes' stock, £500; Knight's, £SO ; Quirk's £75. Blair's drapery stock was considerably damaged. Nothing was saved from Knight's, Quirk's or Brenton's.
