A large number of horses are worke<l ou the tracks at Hastings every morning, preparing for coming events. The Monk, in Connop's stable, pulled tip lame the other morning after putting in .-.low work on the plough. Hamlicappcr Henry has not forgotten Lotion for the Hasting* races on New Year s Day. Lotion, on recent running, has been badly treated. The two-yr-old race on New Year's Day will introduce some future pillars of the turf. Of the seven engaged. Daunt and tiirotla are previous starters and both have been successful at the Park. Mr Gollan's pair are highly bred and promis-ing-looking colt-'. Another son of Dreadnought in Valiant will make his tirst appearance in public. lUhua and Dottrel will probably sport silk for the tirst time. The latter is an extremely smart looking filly and is by Cuirassier from Gamiet.
