In response to a deputation who waited on him yesterday, the Minister of Marine decided to issue a. regulation empowering the Department to grant a license to master-; of foreign-going ships to adjust the compasses of their own vessels upon payment of a fee of 10s. It will not be necessary for a licensee to specially adjust his compasses before sailing if he is satisfied they are properly adjusted, and the certificate will be sutiicient evidence that the compasses are satisfactorily adjusted.
