GENERAL ITEMS (By Telegraph.) ( Per Pits* Association-) Auckland, This day. Mr Abraham Boardman was installed Mayor of Auckland to day. The retiring Mayor (Mr Holland) stated that during the year the overdraft on the general account (£8,612) had been wiped out. There was now a credit balance of £l-5,000, and a total overdraft of £15,720, as against £22,616 in 1893. Wellington, This day. At Mr Bell's installation as Mayor he said from the returns he had obtained he was convinced they had an axious and difficult year before them. The overdraft would be £15,000 next March, against £10,500 last March. He intended to lay proposals before the Council which he hoped would place the finances on a more satisfactory basis. Gisborxe, This day. Sailed, ship Oamaru for London •with a cargo of wool valued at £74.818.
