The Coming Elections.

A FORECAST OF THE DUNEDIN SEAT. [By Telegraph.] [Special to Standard.] Dunedin, This day. The opinion seems to be pretty general that the contest for the three Dunedin City seats will be narrowed down to Messrs Millar, Pinkerton, and Hutchison (Ministerial); and Messrs Scobie Mackenzie and Fish (Opposition. When the numbers are declared I expect to find Miller and Mackenzie in the two leading places, with Hutchison third on the poll. In that case, Pinkerton and Earnshaw, who were returned on the labor ticket in I*9o, will again be relegated to private life. It is understood that when Mr Seddon was in Dunedin last week he urged that section of the community who are not in sympathy with the Prohibition movement to unite in returning Messrs Millar and Pinkerton. Mr Morrison will go back for Caversham, as will Mr Carncross for Taieri, but in neither instances will the majority be as large as is generally supposed; while Waikouaiti, at pre sent represented by Mr Green (Oppositionist), will be won over to the Government side by the agency of Mr Allan. Of course Mr Allen had a mortgage over Bruce, his opponent being merely in the field in the hope of carrying a no-license vote in that district. The weather for the past week has been simply glorious and promises to remain so, in which case the vote in Dunedin and the suburban electorates will be the heaviest yet known. [By Telegraph.] (I'rr Pre.™ Axxoriation.) Timabu, This day. Mr F. W. Smith gave a second address at Timaru last night, the theatre being crowded. At the close there was a confused vote on the motion of confidence, and overpowering cheers for Mr Hall-Jones. Napier, This day. The following nominations have been received for the Eastern Maori Electorate :—Wi Pere, Tare Mete, Maika Taruke, Tamati Tautuhi, Eriata Nopera.
